PLANTING                    
When planting, water deeply & lightly cover with ½-1” compost or a very light humusy soil mix. For best success, ensure even moisture during spring growth. It is also STRONGLY advised to cover the newly planted plants with ½” hardware cloth or hex wire to prevent vermin from digging them up.
Crowns 1-2” deep with the sticks – leaves vertical:  Adiantum, Allium, Astilbe, Dennstedtia, Deparia, Diplazium, Osmunda 
~2-3” deep: Claytonia, Delphinium, Dicentra, Enemion, Hydrastis, Hypoxis, Stylophorum 
Horizontally, growing tips facing up and outward, ~3” deep: Anemone, Asarum, Geranium, Maianthemum, Pachysandra, Podophyllum, Sanguinaria, Trillium  
6-8” deep, on their ‘sides’ with growth tips (if you can find them) outward: Lilium
Plant with their roots firmly planted in moist humusy loam with the crowns at the surface with just a bit of compost over them. Don’t cover the evergreen foliage. Chamaelirium, Hepatica, Hexastylis, Tiarella, Woodwardia
Special Care: Polypodium is planted in on very well drained yet moist substrate of non-alkaline gravel, mulch and humusy soil. Secure it in place with a mesh stapled to the ground with terra staples.
